The long awaited release for the series finale of Sarah J. Maas's beloved A Court of Thorns and Roses series is almost over... at least I think it's the end of the series but I'm not sure if that's been confirmed. However, the seventh novel will be SJM's biggest book in the series. With these two major releases on the horizon, the faerie romantasy community is buzzing with anticipation as we wait for the final months of 2026 and beyond.
What's Coming Next
Book 6 of the ACOTAR series is set to arrive in late 2026, followed by Book 7 in January 2027. For other devoted readers like myself who've also been following Feysand, Nessian, and the rest of the Night Court since the beginning, these releases mark the continuation of one of the most captivating fantasy romance sagas in recent publishing history. I can't wait to read Azriel and Elain's story. And I also kind of hope that they don't end up together? Maybe because not every woman lead needs a man. But we'll see, it's SJM's universe. And I won't be surprised if Elain continues to refuse the bond with Lucien and falls for Azriel. I will read it and love these books either way.
Why this Hype Matters
The ACOTAR fandom has grown exponentially over the years, probably especially thanks to the Booktok community on the clock app. Which has transformed from a dedicated book community into a worldwide cultural phenomenon and entire personality type. Readers have invested years in these characters, their relationships, and the intricate world-building that Maas has crafted. I personally spent weeks reading all the books in 2024 in succession, back to back, over the course of two to three months straight. Each new release brings fresh theories, emotional payoffs, and plot twists that keep fans engaged long after they've turned the final page. Like, I'm still mentally in Velaris. Because my irl world is an endless pavement paradise. So I'm going to stay dreaming about flying through the skies with beefed up, emotionally available Illyrians.
The romantasy genre itself has exploded in popularity, too. With ACOTAR serving as a cornerstone series that helped define what modern fantasy romance can be. Lush descriptions, complex character arcs, and the perfect blend of action and intimacy have made these books impossible to put down. And I've got to say, the stigma and bad press around the erotic scenes is too much, because in all - there's about less than 25 pages of the spicy stuff. I personally don't care for it, other readers are VERY into those scenes, but I'm much more involved with the worlds within the different courts. My imagination runs wild thinking about how beautiful the Summer court must be.

Preparing for the Release
Don't feel behind if you're not in the loop! Or if you're planning a reread of the entire series or jumping straight into the new books, right now is the perfect time to immerse yourself in the world of Prythian. Maybe I might consider hosting a book club discussion. Definitely making tons of fan art. And writing about these books helps me connect with other readers who share my passion for this universe. So comment below what you think about the ACOTAR series.
& Mark your calendars to get ready for what promises to be an unforgettable reading experience. The faerie realm awaits!!
